Scholarships

CEL offers scholarships through the Frances Lowers Scholarship and the WLC Alumnae Scholarship Funds. There are full and partial scholarships available to encourage the participation of those who otherwise would not be able to afford our offerings.

Persons interested in scholarship support are asked to submit a letter to Center for Emerging Leadership describing:

  • Your leadership experience
  • Why you want to attend the program
  • How you would apply your lessons
  • Why you are seeking financial support
  • What non-monetary contributions (volunteer time, skills, other resources) you could offer in return for scholarship support

The Frances Lowers Scholarship Fund and the WLC Alumnae Scholarship Fund

We are grateful to the alums who are stepping forward to support women who are unable to afford the cost of joining WLC. Alice Murray has established the Frances Lowers Scholarship Fund in honor of her mother. Nancy Seleski has established a WLC Alumnae Scholarship Fund. Both of these funds will enable the participation of those who otherwise would not be able to afford our offerings.

Your contributions to either of our two scholarship funds are greatly appreciated. Tax-deductible contributions can be made out to CEL and mailed to:

CEL, P.O. Box 307, Lutsen, MN 55612.

Please note to which scholarship you are designating your contribution.

We also greatly appreciate donations for our ongoing program development.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

Women's Leadership Community Retreat Series in 2005 was such a life-changing experience that I wanted to find a way to give back some of the benefit I received. So, I decided to sponsor a WLC attendee each year. Now I not only continue to receive the benefit of my WLC experience, but in addition, I receive the benefit of knowing that I am making it possible for more women to experience this life-changing gift. To make the experience of giving back available to all WLC Alumnae, I started an Alumnae Scholarship Fund. - Nancy Seleski
I was thinking that this was so far out of the realm of possibility that I could ever attend. The scholarship gave me access to one of the turning points in my life.

WLC gave me so much that I am still walking away with things from seven years ago. I keep working on it slowly.  -Joanne Books
