Facilitators
Ginny Belden-Charles
is a partner in Waterline Consulting, St. Paul, MN, and a cofounder of WLC with
over 30 years of experience as
manager, consultant, and
facilitator. Her work focuses on developing leadership, managing change, and creating organizational
effectiveness. She serves as coordinator of learning group coaches in the
Pepperdine School of Business Master's in Organizational Development program (MSOD) where she completed her degree as a
Bush fellow. Ginny is a mentor trainer for the Institute of Cultural Affairs
(ICA) and their technologies of participation (TOP) methods. She is a Ph.D.
candidate at Taos Institute/Tilburg University, Netherlands, doing research on
women and leadership. Her passion is sailing the Apostle Islands in Lake
Superior on her Islander 36.
Marcia Hyatt is a partner
in Waterline Consulting, and a co-founder of WLC with over 30 years of
experience in leadership development. She is a leadership coach and has developed peer coaching skills
in hundreds of line managers and professional coaches. She also hosts personal
retreats in Lutsen for individuals seeking a time for discernment. Marcia has
her Master's degree from the University of Minnesota in Adult Education. She
served on the faculty of the University of Minnesota and held corporate
positions in both the computer and energy industries. In 1995, Marcia was
awarded the Minnesota Organization Development Practitioner of the Year. She is
a certified ICA (Institute of Cultural
Affairs) facilitator and a senior associate with Power & Systems,
Inc. Marcia also manages the Last Chance Art Gallery in Lutsen, MN.
Michele Simon first participated in WLC in 1997 and has been connected with the Center for
Emerging Leadership (parent organization to WLC) ever since. She has done stints as Board Chair,
Co-Facilitator, and Executive Director. Michele is an
independent organization development consultant in her own business, S
Mark, Inc., for the past 10 years. She has over 20 years of experience in
strategic planning, team building, leadership development, coaching, and
training trainers in corporate settings.
She now works in business, government, religious and
not-for-profit sectors. Michele has managed organization
and leadership development functions while coaching/consulting with
executives, line managers, and HR professionals. Michele received the
American Society for Training and Development Professional Excellence Award for
Organizational Impact and earned her MBA from the University of
Minnesota.
Joanna Hunter has shared
her Taiji learning with Women's Leadership Community participants since 1997. Taiji has
become her passion, as it has been a path of self-discovery and healing
for her. She recently published a book entitled Living Taiji: Stories of the Experience, based on her Ph.D.
dissertation. Jo has worked with all ages, from pre-schoolers to
seniors, in a variety of settings including
universities, social service agencies, business, and religious communities. As a faculty member at the
University of Minnesota, she received a national award from the U.S. Government
for outstanding teamwork on a project. Jo is also certified to teach Conscious
Embodiment courses.
Margy Nelson was
an original core member of Augusto Boal's Center for Theatre of the Oppressed
(TO) in France for several years in the mid-70s, where she taught and performed
throughout Europe and Brazil, and edited the Center's quarterly review. A
previous BA in theatre and time studying mime and circus arts in Paris all gave
way, in her mid-30's, to a return to the U.S. to take over a family resort and
canoe outfitters in northern MN, which she ran for a decade. Since the
mid-90s Margy practices as a bodyworker, also teaching and organizing a
broad range of massage, wellness, and intuition programs in the U.S. and
Mexico.
